A city page with one real job story, not a keyword dump
A city page is worth publishing when you did a job there and you can tell that story without embarrassing the customer. A page that is only a list of suburbs, with the city name swapped, is a keyword dump. Ethical AI is in Frisco, Texas. We build city pages for HVAC, plumbing, pest, roofing, and other Dallas-Fort Worth shops from one real job, not from a spreadsheet of town names.
Start from the job, not the town
Open the last invoices and pick one job you are proud of in a city you will work again. Write five facts a stranger is allowed to know:
- The city, and the street only if the customer said the street can be public.
- The month and the year.
- What was wrong, in the words you used at the kitchen table.
- What you did, including what you refused to upsell.
- How they reached you. Listing, neighbor, or a truck they saw.
If you cannot fill those five without inventing, you do not have a page yet. You have a wish. Go do another job in that city, or pick a different invoice.
One page, one story
The H1 is the service plus that one city. The first paragraph is the story, told short. Then a section on the work you actually do in that city, taken from other real invoices, not from a menu you hope to sell. Then how to call, with the same phone as the listing.
Do not paste the homepage and find-replace the city. Readers can tell, and so can the person whose only difference between your Frisco page and your Plano page is the title. If the Plano page has no Plano job, do not publish a Plano page.
Name nearby areas only when they are on the drive you already make. Two or three, in a sentence, is context. A block of forty towns at the bottom is the dump. Delete the block.
Permission and the photo
The story uses the level of detail the customer allowed. No last name unless they offered it. No street number unless they said yes. A photo of the work is better than a photo of their face. If you have no photo, publish the story without one rather than dropping in a stock house.
File the permission with the invoice. "Customer said city and system type are fine. No street." Future you, and anyone who edits the page, needs that line.
The company name on the page is the public name. The invoice name and the listing name stay the same on the city page too. A city page under a second brand does not feed the shop you are trying to build.
What the homepage still does
The homepage keeps one city, the home city. City pages do not all fight to be the homepage. Link the one or two city pages you have actually earned from the service-area section. Do not link twenty. A thin page you link from the homepage teaches the homepage to vouch for a thin page.
Roofing crews in this metro already learned the hard version of this. One market, proof, and a name that matches. An HVAC city page is the same promise at the size of one story. If the story is about a change-out in Frisco, say change-out in Frisco. Do not drag a roofing keyword onto it because a tool suggested related terms.
A model may shape the paragraph
Hand the model the five facts and nothing else. Ask for a short page. Tell it not to add cities, prices, or awards. Read every proper noun in the draft against the invoice. If a street, a neighborhood, or a competitor appeared that you did not type, delete it. You publish. The model does not get to "expand the service area" at the end.
Tonight
- Pick one invoice in a city you will work again.
- Write the five facts you are allowed to say.
- Draft the page from those facts only.
- Add one photo from that job, or no photo.
- Link it once from the homepage. Do not spawn the next city until it has its own invoice.
